X-ray crystallography

X-ray crystallography is still essential to our research in this AI era, we believe. X-ray crystallography is the best way to know accurate structure of biomolecules if targets can be crystallized. We especially focus on chemical side of biology in which unusual chemical events often happen. In other words, we would like to seek and decipher unique events that cannot be predicted and classified by AI. Crystallography is also educationally good to start structure biology; diffraction theory/Fourie transform/B-factor/model building/structure validation used in crystallography is better to know to drop in at EM theory. Automation of synchrotron data collection has been so advanced that we hope you  learn to analyze structures if you want to be a structural biologist. Routine based usage, ex for ligand screening, is desired to learn. (Illustration, SPring8 & SACLA)
