Laboratory of Biomolecular Adaptation Science (2003~) is uniquely operated by researchers of AIST-Hokkaido (denoted AIST here), who were especially designated as professors or assoc. professors of Hokkaido University (HU). The students who join this laboratory of HU, located in AIST, are able to obtain MC and/or DC degree of life science course of HU, if they complete their thesis under our supervision. Current research targets are Antifreeze Proteins and Functional DNAs. We have so many advanced instruments including NMR, X-ray, original photomicroscopes, etc to work on these substances. Although AIST and HU are 9 km distant, AIST has a huge park "Hitsujigaoka-observation-hill" nearby, where there is a famous bronze statue of the 1st deputy of HU, Prof. William S. Clark ("Boys, be ambitious"). If you are interested in this laboratory located in AIST, please e-mail to the address indicated at the top corner of this page.
